So today myself, and a few other visual artists in the creative arts diploma program, had a meeting (which like none of us were prepared for) with my art teacher where we showed off are snazzy new work. And so I showed off the two new portraits I did this weekend that I did for the very purpose of showing them at the meeting. In any case, one is a portrait of me, which I did from the reflection in my laptop with it's screen brightness all the way down. I'm thinking about calling it, "Conserving Energy; The Queen of Darkness." The title is inspired by my dad, who calls me this when I turn of lights. And the other portrait is of my adorable little baby sister demon child, julie. I made her sit FOREVER but she was so GOOD about it! But yeah... I over-did the picture... she sorta looks like a Simpson now... well, you'll see! I only have crappy webcam shots of them right now, but I'll update with better stuff at a later date.

ANYWAYS the real reason for this journal update is because my art teacher, Ms. Powell told me that my medium is oil pastel or painting, I assume, in watercolor. I think I sort of made a face because I was surprised. I thought chalk pastel was my thing! And I've been so sentimentally attached to them... its part of my identity! They're messy, vibrantly colorful, not mailable-- they're just me! So it just seemed weird that she'd suggest anything different.

But do you think she'd got something there?


In other news: YAY! ALMOST THE END OF THE TRIMESTER!!! FREEDOM! And my birthday! I'll be old... and forced to take SAT classes and worry about getting a permit.... >.<



Side Note: (btw the journal title is a random pirates of the carribean reference! xD When the Royal Navy is floating outside La Isla de Muerta, one of them says, "The pirates come out, unprepared and unawares.")
